Introduced in 1978, Huggies became the official brand name for Diapers by Kimberly-Clark. Even though Kimberly-Clark purchased the brand name Kimbies a decade before the launch of Huggies, but it eventually folded because of competition.

Banking on the lessons they learned with Kimbies, Kimberly-Clark started researching for the right diaper to be introduced to the market. After years of product development, Huggies was introduced and became one of the most successful brand names Kimberly-Clark created. Even though the brand name started small and with one brand name ended up with a disappointed, Huggies slowly climbed up the hill and become the biggest brand name in diapers during the 80’s and the early 90’s. Huggies presence is not only felt in North America but they also have their own line of products in UK and in other parts of Asia. These products usually follow the same brand names of Huggies even though some companies rename their products to be locally appealing.

Like most of the diapers in the market, Huggies created a line of diapers based on the weight of the infant or toddler. But in 1989, Huggies started an innovation with their new product lines called Huggies Pull-ups. This type of Huggies diaper was not only created for a specific weight class of infants but also for a specific gender. To compete with other products, they also introduced in 1993 the brand name called the Huggies Supreme. It’s considered the high end version of Huggies during that time. This type of diaper gives out a feel that someone is actually wearing cloth diapers. Using synthetic products, the company was able to develop a disposable diaper not made of cloth but with something very close to one. Huggies also released a diaper line not for infants or toddlers but for premature infants. These babies have very sensitive skins and Huggies championed in this niche by introducing a diaper that’s good for their skin.

But Huggies is not only limited to Diapers. They also introduced different types of baby products that somehow related to the use of diapers at the same time. Huggies now has seven types of baby wipes to complement the specific skin condition of the infants or toddlers. They also have bathroom products with five different scents. Huggies also released another brand name called the CleanTeam. This brand name offers different type of baby products but instead of expanding to infants, this type of brand focuses on toddlers. But there’s one thing the CleanTeam lacks: their own brand of Disposable Diapers or training pants. That’s why the Pull-ups were introduced to cater those who are in potty training. They offer three different types of product under potty training series. One of the latest products is the Little Swimmers. These products are created for kids who are experiencing the waters most of the time. Products such as diapers specific for swimming and sun care lotion are only some of the products they introduced to the public. Huggies also have their own line of changing pads and ointments for diaper rash.
